ABOUT

Edward Irizarry for Civil Court Judge

Having navigated the foster care system in my youth, I hold a deeply personal understanding of the profound impact the legal system has on individual lives. It is this perspective that drives my campaign for Queens Civil Court Judge.

With over 30 years of legal experience spanning every facet of the New York justice system, I am committed to ensuring our courts remain a sanctuary for fairness, precision, and integrity for all in our community, including the most vulnerable amongst us.

As a current Associate Court Attorney in the NYS Unified Court System, I am already performing the essential work of the judiciary. My daily responsibilities include managing multi-witness evidentiary hearings and drafting published decisions on complex motions, honing the exact skills required to serve on the bench from day one. My career has been defined by a deep immersion in the courtroom, and my dedication is rooted in serving the people of Queens.

Background

I have tried numerous felony jury trials to verdict as both an Assistant District Attorney and a defense attorney, navigating the intricacies of federal, state, and Supreme Court practice. From homicide appeals to high-stakes financial investigations at the SDNY, I have consistently fought to ensure the constitutionality of police procedures and the proper admission of evidence. Beyond the courtroom, I have helped shape the very laws I now seek to uphold, having served as counsel to both the New York State Senate and the New York City Council. My commitment to justice is not theoretical; it is proven.

Early Career

With over 30 years of legal experience, Edward Irizarry has seen the law from every angle—as a prosecutor who never lost a felony trial, a legislative counsel who drafted housing protections, and a private advocate for our seniors. Ed isn't just seeking a seat on the bench; he’s bringing a lifetime of undefeated integrity and proven results to the Queens Civil Court. He knows our laws because he helped write them; he knows our community because he has spent decades defending it.

Work History

Edward Irizarry learned early on that the law should be a shield for the vulnerable, not a weapon for the powerful. From tutoring students as he worked his way through NYU to graduating from Michigan Law, Ed’s journey is defined by grit and determination. He has spent his career fighting for families facing eviction and seniors facing exploitation. This June, vote for the judge who truly understands the struggle and the strength of New Yorkers.

Community

I’m Edward Irizarry, and I’m running for Civil Court Judge because I believe experience matters—especially the kind you can't learn in a textbook. I’ve spent over 30 years in our legal system, starting as a prosecutor in Queens with an undefeated felony trial record and serving today, right here in Queens, as an Associate Court Attorney. But my perspective was shaped long before I passed the bar. I know what it’s like when the law is the only protection a person has. I’m running to bring that lifetime of resilience and fairness to the Queens bench.
